Nick Anthony
FROM REALISM TO SKIN
Nick Anthony Broyles is the founder of Crimson Dove Tattoo Company and a tattoo artist with over a decade of experience. His background began in professional realism drawing before he entered the tattoo industry through a one-year unpaid apprenticeship.
Before tattooing, Nick worked in finance. That background gave him structure, but drawing gave him the direction. Tattooing became the place where both sides met: technical control, client communication, and permanent work that has to be considered before it is started.
Nick’s work is rooted in realism, with experience across portraits, animals, memorial pieces, black and grey, color, coverups, and larger projects. His process starts with reference material, placement, size, and the limits of the skin itself.
Outside the studio, Nick is a father, a man of faith, and a real estate investor. Those roles are part of the same discipline he brings into the studio: responsibility, patience, and a direct respect for the person sitting in the chair.
Focus
Black and grey realism, portraits, animals, memorial pieces, and custom tattoo work.
Approach
References are reviewed, then the piece is drawn for the client, placement, size, and body area.
Standard
Clean setup, checked stencil placement, and tattoo time based on what the piece needs. No rushed work.
Aftercare
Protect the Work
Your tattoo doesn't stop being our work when you leave the chair. How you heal it affects how it settles, how clean it stays, and how it looks long term.
Follow the instructions given at your appointment. If you're using a wrap or second-skin bandage, leave it on for the time your artist tells you.
Once it's removed, wash the tattoo gently with mild, fragrance-free soap, pat it dry, and keep it lightly moisturized.
Questions after your appointment?
Call or text the shop before guessing.
Bad aftercare can wreck good work.
First Wash
Wash with clean hands, mild fragrance-free soap, and lukewarm water. Don't scrub it. Don't use a washcloth. Pat dry with a clean towel or paper towel.
No Soaking
No pools, hot tubs, lakes, rivers, baths, or long soaking showers while it's healing. Showering is fine. Submerging it is not.
Mayo Clinic recommends staying out of pools, hot tubs, rivers, lakes, and other bodies of water while a tattoo heals.
Light Moisture
Use a thin layer of the recommended lotion or ointment. Don't cake it on. Too much product can irritate the skin and slow the healing down.
No Direct Sun
Keep fresh work out of direct sun. Once healed, protect it with broad-spectrum, water-resistant sunscreen.
The American Academy of Dermatology recommends SPF 30 or higher for tattooed skin exposed to the sun.
Leave It Alone
No picking. No scratching. No peeling flakes off. Let the skin do what skin does.
Watch for Problems
Redness, swelling, heat, heavy pain, pus, fever, or spreading irritation are not normal healing signs.
Cleveland Clinic notes tattoo infections can happen even with experienced artists and clean shops, so symptoms shouldn't be ignored.
